| A Country Getaway With International Flavor |
New York -
Travelers won't need to travel across the Atlantic to sample a taste of European life or a game safari experience. Here they can enjoy a quaint and cozy stay at a Bavarian-styled bed and breakfast or stay at America's oldest single family-owned inn, shop for authentic Irish goods or see the first privately owned and family-operated zoo with animals from all over the world. This enjoyable weekend or mid-week getaway is available in Greene County in the Catskills Region of New York, just two to three hours by car from Manhattan or four hours from Boston or Philadelphia.
A Long Tradition
An historic landmark since 1865, the Bavarian Manor Country Inn offers guests old-world charm with German traditions in the heart of the Catskill Mountains. Set on over 100 acres of woodlands with a six-acre lake. The Bavarian Manor has 19 guestrooms, each individually decorated with personality and style (and a private bathroom). Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner at the inn's authentic German restaurant, which is richly decorated with traditional Bavarian cuckoo clocks and beer steins. Chef Stan Oldakowski's kitchen is approved by the Culinary Institute of America as an extern-teaching kitchen for German cuisines. The Bavarian Manor Country Inn is also pet friendly. Guests are welcome to bring their pets for just $15 first night and $10 each additional night. Room rates begin at $79 per day, based on double occupancy.

One of America's Favorite Family Resorts
As the oldest single family-owned inn dating back to 1838, the Winter Clove Resort and its management, the Whitcomb family, know how to extend warm hospitality. The 49-room resort is located on 400 acres at the base of North Mountain along the border of the Catskill State Park. Each guestroom has a period style to reflect the charm reminiscent of the past, along with the amenities desired today. Guests are invited to get away from it all, especially without televisions or phones in the room. Dozens of activities are offered, including golf, tennis, indoor pool, hiking and even an on-site bowling alley. Five public rooms serve as focal points for meetings with family and friends. The resort has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens, Conde Nast Traveler, and American Way as a great escape for just about anyone. Rates begin at $80 per adult and include three meals a day. (Rates for children between 4-16 years old are factored by multiplying the child's age times $3.50. No extra charge for children 3 years old and younger; adult rates apply for those older than 17.)
