  • Maifest at Crystal Brook-Mountain Brauhaus Resort

    Greene County

Maifest got its origins back in 10th century Germany when villagers and townspeople would erect a pole in the local village square and decorate it with sausages, cakes and multicolored ribbons to celebrate nature's bright reawakening after winter's cold darkness. People would dance around the Maypole, believing that it would bring good luck and wealth to those who partook in the festivities. However, modern day celebrations in Germany and Austria are very similar to those at the Mountain Brauhaus where the coming of spring is celebrated amongst friends.

Come join in the festivities of Maifest, a traditional celebration of the arrival of spring in an authentic German atmosphere like no other in North America. At the Mountain Brauhaus the great German-American food is plentiful and the beer and wine flow freely. Enjoy live German music, provided annually by one of the best German bands in the Northeast, and dancing entertainment by The Mountain Brauhaus Schuhplatter Verein.

  • Mysteryland Festival

    Sullivan County

The world’s longest-running electronic music festival, Mysteryland, is making its US debut in 2014 at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. The move marks an historic moment for organizer ID&T, the brains behind high-profile festivals such as Sensation, Tomorrowland, TomorrowWorld and Q-dance. Mysteryland’s multi-faceted approach has been a winning formula for no less than two decades. The festival offers its guests a creative journey, combining music with theatre, movies, interactive installation art, street performers and spectacular shows at bizarre decorated stages. To create this amazing spectacle, the festival organizers collaborate with a wide range of creative people from all over the world. As a nomad Mysteryland travels across the globe to find international artists willing to work with the festival and to make it an even richer experience. The musical offerings are also all about discovery. In addition to legends from the international dance scene, the festival provides a stage for new and local talents: the next generation. Mysteryland has been a leading pioneer on the dance festival scene in Europe and the US since 1993 and has inspired numerous other organizers and events.
