    Light-Hearted Train Robberies.

    It’s entertainment of a different sort when the D&U is hit by “train robbers.” Dressed in period garb, these historically accurate desperadoes recreate the flavor of the old west as they “hold up” the train and its passengers. The good news for passengers is that lawmen can be counted on to keep order when they arrive in the nick of time.
    The robberies are presented by the talented Shadows of the Old West troupe.
    These train robbery reenactments offer thrills and enjoyment for children and adults.

    Collision Ensemble is an improvisational collective of musical and visual artists.
    The core of the group is made up of a quartet of SUNY-Oneonta music department faculty: Engineers/Sound Manipulators Andris Balins and Brett Masteller along with Drummers/Percussionists Blake Fleming and Julie Licata.

    Together the group weaves an exotic tapestry of polyrhythmic percussion amid layers of three dimensional soundscapes... "like watching a movie soundtrack come to life, a soundtrack to a film you've never seen before, a film that hasn't even been made yet." Compelling, visceral, spontaneous, Collision Ensemble paints with sound and inspires audiences to join them on an exhilarating creative journey.

    The Franklin Stage Company was founded on the principle that great theatre should be accessible to all. Admission to our productions is always Free (donations gratefully accepted).

  • Music on the Mountain in Roxbury

    FREE Concert by the popular area band ESQUELA.

    They say music lifts your heart, warms the soul and makes you feel good, so for that very reason, Plattekill Mountain in Roxbury, NY has decided to feature a ‘MUSIC ON THE MOUNTAIN” FREE CONCERT..

    This family-friendly event will take place from 3-7pm with plenty of fun for young and old to enjoy the last few official days of summer, plus beautiful Catskill Mountain views and just kick back and relax.
    For a great beginning of the Labor Day weekend, all you need to do is bring is a blanket or lawn chair and your whole family..
    Food and beverage will be available for purchase on the resort’s wrap around deck.
    The resort’s chairlift will also operate for mountaintop views for $7 per person from 3-5pm during the event.
    Music will feature the local band, ‘Esquela’, offering a unique Americana/Bluesy rootsy/rock and roll & a hint of country music with some serious high quality guitar playing and powerful vocals.
    Esquela, which is Spanish for ‘school’, is originally from Bovina, New York and has amazed people of all walks of life in their heavily traveled hotspots of entertaining.

    Plattekill’s unique layout situated in a natural ski bowl makes for a perfect amphitheater for sound and a great place for an intimate concert setting.
    Plattekill plans to expand on this idea next year and feature a free-to-the-public mini-concert ‘Music on the Mountain’ series next summer over a span of multiple dates.

    Join us for another Labor Day party extraordinaire. The Centre’s 9th annual family-friendly summer’s-end celebration of the region’s “agri-cultural” bounty includes a full afternoon of foot-stompin’ music from folk musicians Mike + Ruthy, Blues Maneuver Band, and Tumbleweed Highway.

    You can graze all day on scrumptious foods made from fresh local products including grass-fed beef burgers from Flaca Vaca Farm, pulled pork and sausages from The Stamford Smokehouse (along with a vegan sausage), organic hot dogs, and lots of vegetable salads. ; pick up fabulous baked goods and enter the pie eating contest; bid on artwork; shop a huge silent auction and rummage sale of antiques, goods, and services to benefit The West Kortright Centre; enjoy the beer-tasting booth; keep the kids entertained with lots of kid-friendly games, balloons & antics by Chee Chee the Clown and other activities; try out the Family Fun Obstacle Course and get a Family Photo Portrait; and shop for one-of-a-kind items from dozens of local vendors.

    Spend a day visiting with local farmers and crafts people, enjoy a hay ride, wind your way through a corn maze, talk with a local historian and visit a historic one-room schoolhouse, see and pet farm animals, and take a tour of a dairy farm.
    Clearly, there is something for everyone!

    That's not all: the crop-art tradition continues!
    View the talents of local artisans who will create art displays entirely out of hay!
    The contest is open to all and is a must see.
